Almost every summer my family and I go to someplace in Croatia. Last time we went to Split. Split is a city in Croatia with a beautiful coastline and glorious mountains that my family loved. The beach was magnificent, our apartment was cozy, and the night time cooled us off after a long hot day.
The beach was the first place we went to, after the first day of driving there, of course. The sun warming the sand at our feet and with its oceanic feel because of the salty breeze blowing all around us. The trees swaying in the ocean breeze looked as if they were dancing their own little jig. The crying seagulls overhead with their annoying screech. It was quite the sight and swim.
Our apartment with a small feel of coziness had its own charm to it. You could see the water from where we were, and oh, what a joy it was when I would wake up in the morning and see the glimmering water so blue and crystalline. You could hear the other people living there splashing about the ocean. I was thoroughly pleased with that apartment and reluctant to leave it.
Split in the night lights is one thing that should be on your “to see” list because it is a sight to see. The smells of fried meat, barbequed chestnuts, and seafood filled the night air. As we walked around, the people with different cultures were milling about and looking quite dull in my eyes. The lights were dazzling because they were combining with the colors of the fiery setting sun, and it was beautiful to look at. There were many nights when we would walk around and look at all the sights my family could see and I loved it.
Split is a place that may family and me will always remember. I hope to go again soon, maybe next summer though because I think that it is too much to just go during spring break. The warm beach and cool water. The small apartment with the magnificent ocean view. The beautiful night time and the smell of Split is something I will never forget. Though we will probably never go there again because like I said each time it’s a different place.
